About Us

Presstran manufactures structural components for the automotive industry using stamping and welding operations. Parts are cut and formed from rolled sheet steel through the use of blanking and forming presses. Cut or blanked steel is formed into shape through the use of forming/stamping presses. Parts are placed in temporary storage, from which they are shipped to the customer or moved to the assembly process. In the assembly process, parts are welded using spot, projection and/or metal inert gas (MIG) welders and then moved to shipping.
Presstran is part of Magna International's Cosma Structural Systems Group, functioning closely with another major St. Thomas employer, Formet Industries. Both are part of Magna International and both companies are recognized globally as being among the most technologically advanced manufacturing facilities.
Presstran’s Environmental Management System (EMS) has been certified to the ISO 14001 standard since April 1998, and recertified in February 2011.
